occurs post loan origination when mortgage servicers use false statements and book-keeping entries, fabricated assignments, forged signatures and utter counterfeit intangible Notes to take a homeowner's property and equity.

MEGA-Racketeering, Treason are two reasons I can think of, but mostly because it should be treated as a crime, not a political issue.  If the FBI jumps in, there will be a balance of scrutiny, that cannot be mitigated by Congress.  And quite frankly, the FBI and the FTC are the only two agencies I trust any more.

How about adding the IRS into your list of investigative agencies?

The REMICS owe Mega-taxes from years of shenanigans. If it worked to hang  Al Capone way back when, why wouldn't it work to jail these modern-day gangstas'?

Tax violations are evidently worse than murder. Maybe we could finally chew up some of the national debt.

Oh, definitely agree, the mortgage/RE industries are the biggest tax dodgers on the planet.  But I'm talking about undermining the nation's economy in time of war.  Treason.

Both the IRS/FBI as well other state law enforcement should have been involved years ago,

I doubt they will of any good now, its all coming down to court actions, and discovery.  Both the FBI/IRS had plenty of time.  And plenty of complaints and evidence turned over to them years ago.

We should not get our hopes up.

FBi was pounding on Bush's door long ago, now has at least 500mil in TARP funds to go after mortgage fraud and they are bagging bad guys right and left.

I filed a complaint against my bank with the FTC, they responded immediately and eventually issued a Cease & Desist Order to Guaranty Bank, citing "Accounting irregularities"
