This is one of the notorious foreclosure lawyers in Phoenix.  Check out the link and embedded video.  This creep not only HIT two pedestrians, but got out of his 2011 BMW, walked over to the nearly dead woman, then got back into his car and drove away.  Bystanders and police gave foot chase and caught him a block later as he was boxed in by traffic.  The video of the incident was captured by the Light Rail Train.

Police claim suspect high on alcohol and Oxycodone at 2pm in the afternoon!

If the wonam dies the charges will most likely be upgraded to 2nd degree murder.  Hopefully his career of taking homes is over as his is bar license.

I read on other sites about this.  Friends of Perry have been writing in comments about how he would give his shirt off his back to anyone.  (He will kick you out of your homes but still give you his shirt.  How kind.)  His friends defending him all the way and blaming the poor people hit by this allegedly drunken in-human man.  He thought only of himself.  How many people who have compassion for another would leave the scene when someone is so badly injured?  Bet his defense will be he's an alcoholic and in need of treatment not jail.  Perry is disgusting.

Next stop - Arraignment Hearing.  One stop closer to prison.

In Arizona there are two ways for a Defendant to appear initially on a felony charge.  The first is through a Direct Complaint from the County Attorney.  If that happens the Defendant appears before a Justice of the Peace and a hearing is held (or waived) to determine if these is probable cause to bind the Defendant to Superior Court on the Felony charge.  Or, the Defendant is indicted on a felony charge by a Grand Jury and is sent directly to the Superior Court for further action.  In the case of this foreclosure lawyer, he was indicted by a Grand Jury on a class 3 felony which means he bypasses the lower courts and immediately enters the Supeior Court system.

He's screwed.

In case anyone is wondering why I am following this particular here in Phoenix, this sleazebag is one of the major foreclosure attorney's.  There are a lot of people out on the street as a reult of this disreputable lawyer.

SADLY, the woman he hit, and then ran and left at the scene, has died.

The County filed Manslaughter charges against him, as expected and is the case here in Maricopa County for such matters.  Additionally, he has been charged with aggravated assault for hitting the womans companion (who is recovering).

As it stands today Perry is facing a Class 2 Felony (Manslaughter), Class 3 Felony (Aggravated Assault), and a Class 3 Felony, Leaving the scene of an accident where a death occured.

I doubt we'll ever see his name on a legal pleading or foreclosure notice again.

Brindy... no need to explain, this minion of Gerald Shapiro was drunk and speeding @ high noon... very, very sorry to hear that the women brutally run down  passed.

Lots of people in many states have these once the one man "ambulance chaser's"law firms that Gerald Shapiro has sucked into his LOGS network of Foreclosure Mills nationwide throwing American's  out on the streets, with the dreams of million's of dollar's pouring in from Fannie Mae, who employees and feeds the LOGS network nationwide with taxpayer money!

So in fact the fancy  speeding BMW that struck this couple in the most common denominator was paid for by all of us , the tax payer who via Fannie and Freedie make people like Shapiro and his minions rich and finding that if they can break the law in our courts they are above the law on the streets!

Prayers to the family of the victims!

Hung the F*@%er HIGH!

This link will take you to an actual video of the accident.  Not for the faint of heart.

http://www.azfamily.com/home/Driver-arrested-for-DUI-after-hitting-2-pedestrians-in-central-Phoenix-116411614.html

This video is from the nose camera of an approaching Phoenix Light Rail train.  (Obligatory 15 second advertising promo).

You can see this sleaze stop (at 0:27 seconds), get out of his car, walk over to the critical woman (he also hit her companion), bend over her, and then run back to his car and flee (at 2:47).  He stood there looking at his victim for more than TWO minutes!

Citizens and police were chasing him on foot.  Fortunately he was boxed in by traffic and arrested.

What a ((**(*&(!

Brindy, keep the info coming on this sick basxxxd.  I pray for the family of the deceased woman.  This senseless act did not have to happen.  Hope they give Perry what he truly deserves--a nice cell complete wth someone who has an interest in him.

The latest docket shows the Defendant, Mr. Sleazebag, tried to get bail lowered.  This is the first indication he must still be in jail (unable to make bail???).  The MCSO web site does not show those currently in jail but I suppose one could call.

Poetic justice if this piece of *&^% can't make bail.  Breaks my heart.  Maybe his home will be FORECLOSED while he is in the can and unable to file more foreclosure actions.

Here is the LATEST docket entry.  Note the upcoming hearings.  I will BE SURE to go sit in the hearings and report to the blog!

It DOES look like he has a competent criminal defense lawyer though.

Looks like Shapiro , the LOGS network etal. are not willing to come forward to post bail for Mr.Perry.

When someone is drunk at high noon there must be  similar digressions with this schmuck in the past. Its time to do background check's on all of the people associated with the "Law Offices of Gerald Shapiro" aka LOG's !

If Mr. Perry is an example of the caliber of people working with Shapiro/LOGS there must be plenty of dirt to uncover!

The court docket, as of 3-10-2011 shows a bonding company posted a $ 36,000.00 surety bond for the Defendant's release.  If tradition was followed, then that probably means the total bond was $ 360,000.00.

The next hearing is scheduled for the first week of April.  I'll be there and post a synopsis.

It didn't take long for Gerald Shapiro to throw his buddy under the bus, opps, or, is that under the 2011 BMW.

The law firm, which perry was a name partner, is NOW: (amended 3-7-2011)

Law Offices of Shapiro, Van Ess & Sherman, LLP

It doesn't look like they (as of today) have scrubbed their website clean though:  http://www.shapiroattorneys.com/admin/az/content/Resume%20-%20AZ.pdf

Maybe a foreclosure of this fellows home is  next - but his own partner???

Wow, he pleaded not guilty to all 3 charges. I'm assuming this must be some sort of procedural sort of thing since he was clearly caught on tape as well as in front of many eye witnesses.

Look for this guy to start squealing like a piglet on his mentor Gerald Shapiro aka LOGS Network, in a plea bargain. Arizona has the second highest foreclosure rate in the nation, this guy will open the flood gate and provide much needed information that will bring Shapiro down!

His lawyer managed to get the Court to rule the prosecution is a 'complex' case.  This means weeks will turn into months and years for this guy to finally get what is coming.  It's a desperate attempt anyway.  The Phoenix PD and Maricopa County Attorney's Office are VERY GOOD at prosecuting these types of crimes.

In the meantime he gets tracked everywhere he goes and tested for alcohol minute by minute with an ankle monitor.  I have to believe this guy will violate the terms of his release and end back up in the slammer pre-trial.

Take a moment to read the complex case minute entry.  You can just see it 'drip' with delays.

A week or so ago his lawyer filed a motion to dismiss the charges, or, alternatively,  remand the case back to the grand jury for a new finding of probable cause.  The motion was DENIED.  Next hearing is mid July 2011.  Ever slow the wheels of just grind but they do grind.

The state filed a scheduling memo with the Court yesterday.  The latest hearing with the Defendant is today.  It will most likely be Friday before any update minute entry is available on line.  I'll post the update as soon as it shows up online.

Most of the action to date has been the Defendant trying to get the case dismissed (denied) or remanded back to the Grand Jury (denied).

The next hearing on this case is 10-14-20011.  The Defendant, having lost a motion to dismiss, a motion to remand to the grand jury, and a special action appeal of the above two motions, now wants the Court to reconsider the above denials, this time based on alleged prosecutor misconduct.

So, the case plods on, a woman is dead, the Defendant is caught on film getting out of his car, looking at the dying woman, and then fleeing the scene - only to be caught by a group of citizens and a police officer.

The State Bar of Arizona has done one thing right though.  The Bar suspended the law license of Perry while this case slogs on.  No more foreclosures signed by this creep.

Here is the latest minute entry link:  http://www.courtminutes.maricopa.gov/docs/Criminal/092011/m4905027.pdf

Next trip by the court house I'll get a copy of the motion for reconsideration and send it to the moderator for (hopefully) posting to the legal lounge.

It appears that after nearly a year, the foreclosure lawyer who ran over and killed a woman in Phoenix is about to change his plea (from innocent).

A status hearing is scheduled for 2-28-2012 for the purpose of a possible change of plea.  Recently the County Attorney filed documents in the case alleging additional aggravating circumstances.

http://www.courtminutes.maricopa.gov/docs/Criminal/032012/m5136514.pdf

Perry and his attorney have been working with a Court Commissioner to cut a deal.  The wording of the above minute entry does not state specifically say what the 'deal' is; only that a deal is in the works.

The details are that the lawyer, driving under the influence of alcohol struck a husband and wife while he was driving in Phoenix.  After the accident the lawyer got out of his car, walked over to the woman on the ground (who later died), and then fled the scene in his BMW - to be caught a block later by alert citizens.

IF this guy doesn't do at least 25 years in an AZ prison justice will not have been done.

I smell a rat because the defense has been trying to cut a deal for a year.  I get the feeling the "boys" downtown have their fingers into protecting one of their own.

If I am wrong and he gets what he deserves, I'll be the first to admit I'm being unnecessarily dour.

The important thing is that justice is done for the woman he killed.

Today, 3-20-2012 Phoenix Foreclosure lawyer Christopher Perry pled no-contest to the charges of Negligent Homicide and Hit and Run with a Death.  The homicide charge is a class 4 felony and the Hit and Run is a class 3 felony.  The actual plea deal has not hit the clerks minute entry docket so I don't know what presumptive sentence was cut behind the scenes.  Sentencing is scheduled for April 30, 2012.

Here is a link to the complete docket so far.  I'll post the details of the plea as soon as I see it on-line.

http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/docket/CriminalCourtCases/caseInfo.asp?caseNumber=CR2011-108337

Justice for the woman he killed is close at hand.  As an aside he won't be taking any more homes either.  His bar license is suspended and will certainly be gone for good one the sentencing is complete.
